The Left: Scarier Than You Think

The Russian Revolution had big goals:  they aimed for the Tsars.

In last week’s post about the Woke Military driving out the obviously patriotic Lt. Colonel Lohmeier (Woke Military Kicking Out (More) Officers), I replied in the comments:

“I hope that they start recruiting from mental institutions, prisons, and inner-city Minneapolis.”

This was actually an attempt at a joke – it’s a riff on a line from Baseketball, the 1998 Zucker Brothers/Trey Parker/Matt Stone movie which is a staple around our house on Saturday nights.  The original line from the movie is:

Continued expansion diluted the talent pool, forcing owners to recruit heavily from prisons, mental institutions, and Texas.

When they film a post-apocalypse movie in Detroit, they have to use CGI to repair buildings.

I didn’t use Texas, because I like Texas and Texans, so I picked Minneapolis because I think it’s on its way to becoming a quaint “Detroit on the Mississippi” where the primary source of amusement is Thunderdome Friday nights.  Large Marge, a frequent commenter, called me on this quip (edits only in formatting):

A)  Military recruits from prison

I am a former Corrections Officer.
I worked at three penitentiaries . . . including a max.

Some of the most intelligent individuals are prisoners.  The most intelligent of them are organized and exceptionally efficient in the use of violence and intimidation.

Although better people than me might question their primary loyalties — gang/club? or Constitution? — I would expect them to continue to hone their adaptive skills in a military setting.

In fact, I would anticipate them quickly establishing a hierarchy and running the joint in no time… while eliminating slackers.  Anybody they cannot eliminate, they recruit.  No middle ground, no spectators.

Two of my ‘adopted’ sons are also Corrections Officers.  Both are Marines, one was a SEAL.  Intelligent, competitive, dedicated, observant.

Ask around, you may discover your assumptions to be the opposite of reality.
And assumptions can get somebody hurt.

B)  Military recruits from inner-city slums

Happens daily.  Pigment is no guarantee of inbred stupidity or ineffectiveness, however, it is a guarantee of tribal acceptance.

Anybody not in the tribe is prey:

If you are alone, they are five.

If you are five, they are a faceless two hundred in a spontaneous leaderless non-thinking swarm . . . they act, then disperse into nothingness.

Similar to recruits from prison, these folks are effective at violence and intimidation.
Just do not expect complex thought processes resulting in traditional long-term ‘White Collar’ crimes.
Complex planning is not required for crimes of opportunity.

C)  These A and B elements are not exclusive.

Expect cross-overs.

Flyers can ruin your afternoon.

Large Marge is, of course, right in every respect.

The first point is that the general attitude is that all of the Left is represented by the soy-boy weakness we see from the Left’s poster children.  It is not.

I love being around people like this.  I know that I can easily take their wallets and buy myself something nice with their parent’s money.

Leftism is about power, not rule of law.  What does that sound like?  It sounds like a gang hierarchy.  In truth, that describes the rise of most Leftist groups as they head for absolute power.

Need an example?  Joseph Stalin was a bank robber.  He was a kidnapper.  He ran extortion and protection rackets.  Undoubtedly he was a murderer before the Soviet Revolution ever began and he could update his rookie numbers into the big leagues.

Stalin was a thug.  When the Revolution started, he assumed a military command position and rose to prominence because:  he was ruthless and brutal.

Of course, the mincing idiots in the Alberta Young Communist League won’t be anything but grease between underneath the tank treads of the real Leftists.  If they were all that we faced?  The Revolution would be over as soon as the microwaves ran out of power to heat up the chicken tendies the Alberta Communist Party uses for food.

If you work at the prison library, it does have its prose and cons.

No, if the real Revolution starts, we’ll see the same here.  And the Left will recruit heavily from prisons.  How do we know this?  They’ve already started.

  • California is planning on releasing 63,000 violent felons back onto the street.
  • It is now a bigger crime to defend yourself in Leftist states than to rape or murder.
  • Places like San Francisco have made shoplifting under $950 a “free pass” crime where there isn’t any punishment.

As I mentioned in the last Weather Report – the Chauvin trial wasn’t about Chauvin’s guilt – it was a planned political theater telling cops that the last thing they can do is attempt to arrest criminals.  Violent crime increase is the result.

Communist revolutions since the French Revolution have had the effect of bringing not the brightest and the smartest and the most virtuous to power, but the most bloodthirsty.  Stalin himself initiated purges to every possible threat to his authority for just this reason.

So, Large Marge is right on this point.  The people that the Left will put against America won’t be the weak that they put forward.  What they put forward will be determined by ruthlessness.  Say what you want about Stalin, but he wasn’t dumb.  And he wasn’t a nice cuddly grandpa – he left his own son to die in a POW camp during World War II rather than accept the offered trade for him.

Remember, Joe Stalin was great at carbon reduction.

The leadership of the Left will also be determined by another factor:  loyalty to the Cause.  One of the hallmarks of Leftism is promotion to leadership positions of people who would never have been able to reach a leadership position under the old regime.  A prostitute as commissar determining who of the town’s leaders gets shot for perceived past grievances?  Why not?

In fact, it has always been the practice to find those who have failed in life to promote to power in Leftist countries.  The idea is that competence is less valuable than loyalty, and those who owe everything in life to their devotion to the party are bound to be the most fanatical.

To me, it looks like the FBI office smells like cheap aftershave and burnt hair.

By the logic of the Left, Lt. Colonel Lohmeier had to be removed.  He was competent, but he wasn’t loyal, and never would be.  Why do that when there are dozens of Majors that you can promote who have seen the penalty for not being loyal?

On the Right, there is a desire for more incompetence in the forces that may be sent against the American people for the first time in over 155 years, but we may not get that.  The Majors that follow Lohmeier will likely be nearly as competent, but a whole lot more loyal.  That’s the official army.  Likewise, they’ll probably be working along with shock troops as bloodthirsty as the Leftists that performed atrocities in Paris in 1794, Russia between 1917 and 1933, China between 1949 and 1970, and Cambodia in the 1970s.

So, yeah.  My attempt at humor was just that, an attempt.  Large Marge is right.

This is a warning to all American people who love justice and the rule of law:  never, ever, underestimate your opposition.

  1. I would reply that criminals don’t make good soldiers. Sure, they’re blood-thirsty and all, but I think they view laws and orders more along the line of suggestions, and they would be open for the opportunity for personal gain at any moment. I suppose we’ll see in the fullness of time. I expect it will be a mix of all of the ideas that have been put forth about it. As for me, I’m not afraid of what will spew forth from the cities.

    1. In Vietnam they weere still recruiting directly from the courts. The British army (and probably many others) consisted partly of people on the run. They form their own gangs and are loyal to their friends in the ranks. There is also the threat of draconian punishment to help.

    2. I agree. They aren’t regulars. They are shock troops, meant to demoralize.

      I think that you’re right. In the cities, they rule. But they’d have to have significant cohesion to move outside of the suburbs.

      Will they get that?

    1. Ricky, this is 100% of the demoralization of the American military. It is the selection criteria to destroy the lower ranks, since the General Officers are already converged.

  3. Yes and no. Prison gangs are hierarchical and organized in a contained setting where they don’t have to worry about keeping the lights on or feeding themselves. Outside of prison, you get Haiti. I am sure there are clever prisoners and some genuinely intelligent ones but the vast majority are among the dumbest people in our society and yes this is due in large measure to race, something that is far deeper than “skin pigment”. Prison is a microcosm of any social group dominated by blacks and mestizos, violent and chaotic.

    What they are is predictably violent and releasing them into society early serves the purpose of sowing chaos and setting the stage for a benevolent leftist authoritarian state to “protect” us. The soy-infused ranks of the antifa types aren’t dangerous, the dangerous ones are the diverse groups who don’t feel any need to obey the rules of civil society, whether they come from our own home grown violent subgroups or are imported from Somalia or Syria.

    As for the military, Big Country Expat had a good piece on the state of affairs in dot mil. The military of today isn’t the same military that we grew up with in the Cold War. Women who still fail the easier physical fitness standards at almost 50%. Recruiters who can’t find new cannon fodder for Israel because the recruits are potheads or morbidly obese. All sorts of degenerates and weirdos. Add in the purging of White guys and the military is rotting from the inside out. We might win a future war because we just have better stuff but in an extended ground war against Russians or Chinese? Forget about it.

    1. But can they defeat the equally demonized and incompetent and maleducated U.S. population?

    3. I don’t think that it’s a LACK of potential recruits, it’s just that the non-Woke possibilities don’t see a future there. The kids are around, same as always. They just aren’t joining the Leftist military.

  4. It’s true, the Chauvin trial is definitely “planned political theater”. Every other week the MSM giddily reports how more charges are going to be brought. All we need is Billy Mays shouting “But wait! There’s more!”

Even made a jaunt where no one goes after dark now. Yes, young and dumb but interesting very short visit and experience.

    Look into the critical race theory and you can see copy paste from Marx with hate Whitey thrown in.
    I was never one of those Trump is going to reset everything and save the republic people but I am thankful for the time that he bought us.
    They are evil and it is just that simple. Satan hides in plain sight and the world refuses to see.
    Some people cannot cope with too much reality and spend huge amounts of resources running away.
    That won’t be an option when the comrades come out for blood and they are verbally stating that violence is coming locally and elsewhere.
    You must fight in this world and there is no way around it.
    WAR is the answer and it always will be. Man is made for WAR and to go against that is to lead him to extinction.

    1. Satans best achievement is convincing people he doesn’t exist. I rarely stated there is evil in the world till just a few years ago. To many still don’t see it they are busy on the machines or have to go to work. This blog and its commenters provide great thoughts for contemplating and for that I thank you.

  7. The craven left drools at emboldening and weaponizing the tax authorities.

    They plan to overfund the IRS through the budget reconciliation process. Then the IRS will upgrade their IT, the IRS will watch bank account flows, and bring in all sorts of new hires and auditors (let your mind go wild with that one).

    So if you get a modest inheritance, a life insurance payment (without interest), a loan payback, a gift, then you’ll be on the radar because deposits won’t match income.

    Assuredly they will not go after the truly high income types, they will go after regular people, particularly white people because of the whole illegal equity thing, who don’t enjoy litigating the tax authorities for part-time diversion.

  8. It should be obvious to anyone paying attention that the antifa crowd is training their front line troops. The situations like where the guy got out of his truck and was beaten to the point of hospitalization are increasing. Observers trained to follow tactics have noted they use cars to follow the mob and to block the victims in, eliminating retreat. They’re training the kids to be their shock troops.

    Organized, with professional on-the-job training. Does anyone know of any equivalent pro-liberty, anti-communist groups doing the same?

    Back last September, I saw an American Partisan article by trained veterans surprised by the tactics antifa used and the beatings they took. https://www.americanpartisan.org/2020/09/antifa-reality-check/ These guys were not desk jockeys. They were armed and they got their asses handed to them.

    There’s going to be guys on the pro-liberty side who think, “we have all the guns, we have all the veterans, it’s going to be easy.” The guys in American Partisan article, a Marines light reconnaissance guy, a bronze star recipient and a law enforcement guy say “don’t get overconfident.”

    1. It won’t be, especially on their turf. Here? It would be difficult.

      We.
      Will.
      Be.
      Shocked.

      We are not used to what will come.

      1. Every conflict has a Hannibal with elephants, Bull Run, or Kasserine Pass moment. They are inevitable.
        They are always followed in turn by a Carthage in the Third Punic War, a March To The Sea, or a Hiroshima.
        Students of history will nota bene that the interval from the first days’ missteps to the elimination of resistance shortens over time.

        Saddam, for example, lasted about two weeks, and that facing an army about 1/100th the size and one boasting far more professionalism and discipline than the one the Left is looking at stirring to action. (Notably, not fighting for their own front porches nor children’s schoolyards either. That adds a D x 10 factor to the dice roll in the coming example.)

        I can promise that, once things commence, neither DC nor any twenty Blue Hive cities will be treated as gently and circumspectly as was Baghdad. In fact, just the opposite.

        I suspect that, of necessity, a Societal Cage Match will be declared, and unconditional surrender will be accomplished by removal of the offending organism, in its entirety.

        Headless torsos hanging from overpasses optional, but highly likely.

        The brutality necessary to achieve that end neither shocks me, nor fills me with dread.
        Just with enormous rage and disappointment, that the pustulence and mortification was allowed to fester to this point in the first place, far beyond the point at which it should have been dealt with definitively and permanently.

          I have thought a lot about what that moment looks like – our Kasserine Pass and what that looks like, especially in a world where the media wants to hide it.

          I expect it to be horrific, undeniable, and galvanizing.

          Sadly, I expect it to be soon, as well.

  9. I’ve been trying to tell people this for a while now. I’m sure the lefty leadership loves the soy boy memes as much as the right, as they do nothing, but distract from what the left really is. Great article.

  10. Later those Stalin incompetent troops won German competent educated generals with their high tech gadgets and conquered half of Europe. Unfortunately competency often mean abstract theoretical education without single useful skill whatsoever.

    And don`t underestimate thugs . Sometimes you learn in the street fight more than in the best military academy. Those guys kicked out from army are good example. They could not defend even their jobs.

    1. Yup. But even at the end, the Germans were winning in whole number ratios – 2:1, 3:1.

      But they simply ran out of Germans faster than the Soviets ran out of Soviets.

  11. You must know your enemy, and you must know yourself. And you must know Sun-Tzu, if you are going to fight any enemy of considerable strength and numbers. Custer serves as a piece of history, and a warning. What you think you know is not always knowledge.

    1. Exactly. It’s always better if the enemy never fights you – which is exactly what the Left wants to intimidate the Right into doing.
