Can’t Post Today

It’s written, memes are freshly baked out of the oven, but I can’t get to a “new post” window on my PC, and it’s too late to figure out how to post off my phone.

  1. Your page pops up with a “secure connection failed” Error,
Whe I strip off the “s” from the https part of the address it loads fine…
Hope this helps with your troubleshooting.

I enjoy the blog and God Bless you and the family.

  2. yep, full text of the error on FFox 93 is

    Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to wilderwealthywise.com. SSL peer has no certificate for the requested DNS name.

    Error code: SSL_ERROR_UNRECOGNIZED_NAME_ALERT

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

    removing the ‘s’ works fine.

    1. Nick, thank you. Yup. The weird part is (at least with the way my site is set up) that I cannot post, (except from my phone) if the SSL certificate is gone. It’s back thank heavens.

      And thank you again.

  3. Glad you’re back. Me and my wife refreshed this site since yesterday.

  4. If I might offer a rather crude rebuttal: buying toilet paper *was* rational. Sure, there were irrational people — we all saw the shopping carts piled over the top — but the shortage was coming regardless of the panic of the few.

Think about the TP supply chain when everyone got sent home from work in March of 2020. Or rather, think (just briefly, I hope) about the number of acts requiring toilet paper that were suddenly taking place at home rather than on the employers’ thrones. Now, think about how differently employers buy toilet paper than do regular people.

All of a sudden, the country needs twice as many 4-packs of Charmin, and almost none of those 64-cubic foot cases of one-ply that offices, colleges, and factories buy in bulk. How fast do you think the TP companies, retail outlets, and shippers a) realized what was happening, and b) could change production and shipping from one-ply cases to softie 4-packs? Faster than WalMart would run out of TP?

    Not a chance.

The hoarding (which we will see again soon) was a rational-irrational response to a shortage, not the cause of it. As shortages continue to spread, we will see more and more seemingly irrational acts that exacerbate those shortages. But their causes will remain ultimately political.

The most rational thing to do now that we know what’s coming is to stock up, especially on those things which will disappear first. In other words, panic now and avoid the rush.
