I have found 100% of Indian call center employees get quite angry when you ask them to put someone who speaks English on the line.

  1. A friend of mine met Tony Hawk after disembarking a flight and his quote was, “Hey, Tony Hawk! You are taller than I thought.”

Tony Hawk replied, “Hey, so are you.”
He was gracious enough to pose for a photo.

Pretty tame dialogue compared to those meme quotes…

  2. Re: the picture of the woman ham (hams generally use the term YL (Young Lady) or XYL (Ex-YL)) with the model 15 teletype is everywhere… I’ve seen that many, many times in my 50 years as a ham.

    1. Where’s the “Wife of [HAM radio callsign]” nametag? Is it embroidered just below the navel? Does hubby get a QSL card for the contact?

  3. “Press 1 for English…”

We bought a new house, so I’ve been online or the phone to all of our bank accounts & credit cards. Most were EZ, except Lowe’s. Nightmare.

Spent 20 minutes trying to understand Pajeet. Numerous times he says, “I’m looking something up. Please hold.”

Finally, was told that I had to write to some bank in Philly with our updated W-9 and proof of new address (used a copy of my voter registration, not my DL).

    I’m on hold for approval.

    1. Many places have moved their call centers out of India to places like Puerto Rico and the Philippines because of all of the complaints. But the service is only slightly better (i.e. they are only slightly less retarded and a little easier to understand).

I just spent the weekend dealing with my dad’s bank because of an error on his credit card. Card was frozen. Called and went through 15 minute hold before getting a Filipino women who could barely even pronounce the name of the bank. We were barely a minute into the call and she accidently hung up on me. Went through process again, with another 15 minute wait and got another Filipino woman (who sounded exactly like the first one but had a different name). She said card was turned back on and all was good. Went out today and card is still frozen. Incompetence knows no limits.

I’m debating whether call the bank directly and make them fix it (or just close down the account). It’s insane that we allow 3rd world morons to have access to sensitive financial info.

      1. Anon-

Best experience: First Citizens Bank out of Raleigh. White operators in Eastern NC. Remember they bought Silicon Valley Bank for almost nothing, as FCB is well above solvent. Plus, the Holding Family still owns around 40% of the public. A friend owns 1,000 shares of their preferred. Yes, it exists.

  4. Can’t believe you tackled that little kid. 🙁
    Anyway, get feeling better.
